Family Photography

It's so easy to get wrapped up in day to day life, that people often forget to capture their growing family.  No one ever looks back at photos of their family and thinks I wish I had less of these.  Whether it's  welcoming your first child to your family or sending your youngest off to college, it's important to capture the moments as your family grows.

Here at Luz Photography, we love to do family portrait sessions.  I enjoy seeing my families grow year after year.  I still take photos for a family who has stuck with me since their maternity photos of their 2nd daughter 12 years ago.  Even though they live in Miami, FL I do their photos every time we go to Florida to visit my family every year.

Available Family Sessions

Half session ~ $175

  • Up to a half hour session

  • Includes 10 digital images

  • In studio only

A half session is great for a family with young kids when an hour might be a bit too much.  This is a 30 minute session at my studio that includes your favorite 10 digital images.

Full session ~ $275

  • Up to an hour session

  • Includes 20 digital images

  • In studio or on location

This is a great choice for a family with kids that might take some time to warm up.  This is a one hour session that can be done in my studio or on location.  I have several beautiful locations we can go to if you don't have one in mind.

Where we do our sessions

Our studio is located at

26 Union Street

Suite 1

Vernon, CT 06066

On location full sessions can be done pretty much anywhere we are legally allowed to be.  There is a $1 per 1 way mile fee for anywhere more than 20 miles from the studio.  So a location 30 miles from my studio is just a $10 fee.  Just a few of my favorite locations within 20 miles include:

  • Wickham park and Case Mountain in Manchester,CT

  • Bigelow Hollow state park in Union,CT

  • Valley Falls park in Vernon, CT.

My favorite on location site in CT outside the 20 miles is Harkness memorial state park in Waterford, CT.  This location is absolutely stunning and just a $44 travel fee.

The Process

1. The Consultation

The consultation can be as simple as  a quick phone call or as in depth as a visit to the studio to detail every aspect of what you are looking for.  It's all up to you.

2. Book Your Session

Once  you decide  which session you want and when you want it, just pay a $50 deposit (which goes toward the total cost of your session) and you're ready to go.

3. Strike a Pose

Time for your session.  Don't forget to bring all of your outfit changes and any props you wanted to include.  Relax,  and just be yourself.

4. Pick Your Favorites

Within 48  hours of your session you will receive your proofs.  These are  all unedited images from your session.  Each session includes some images.  If you want more than what's included,  the price for additional images will be included in the email with your proofs.

5. Download and Share

Once you have picked all of your favorites, please allow up to 2 weeks for all of the final edits to be done.  Your finished images will be sent to you via email to a password protected online web album for you to download.  There are  a variety of physical products available you can purchase right from your online web album.  If you only want the digitals, you're done!

FAQs

How far in advance should I book my family portrait session?

In general, you should try to book 3-4 weeks in advance.  However I will always do my best to accommodate your needs and will do last minute sessions if possible.

Is there a limit to how many people can take part in my family session?

No!  You can include as many people in your session as you want.  I would just suggest larger groups choose the full session.

Do I need to bring anything for my session?

Just you and your family.  Of course you can bring any props you want to include and any outfit changes you would like.

Can I do other kinds of photos during my family session?

Of course, This is your session.  Whatever pictures you want to take during your session is up to you.

What if the number of images isn't enough?

You are welcome to purchase as many images as you want.  With a typical Full Session you can expect between 60 and 120 images to choose from.  I choose to include some images in each session because I have never liked how some photographers charge you for your session and don't include any images in the cost.

Paula took AMAZING photos of my kids, along with my cousins kids. How she got 7 little ones aged 8 years to 7 months to look at the camera I’ll never know! Absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to come back for more
