Senior Portraits at Luz Photography

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

Senior portraits are a great way to capture the end of an important era in a teenager's life. Whether you want them done for the yearbook or just for personal use, there are so many different options when it comes to senior portraits and so many different ways to celebrate your senior.

When to Schedule Your Senior Portraits

A lot of people want to do their senior portrait session around October, but the fall is usually my busiest season and

waiting until the last minute can cause difficulties with scheduling. I want to make sure you get your photos in time,

especially if you're putting them in the yearbook. I personally recommend scheduling your senior session for the spring or the summer.

Including Your Interests

Senior portraits don't have to be just regular pictures. I encourage my seniors to incorporate any hobbies and interests they have into their photos. I most commonly have seniors incorporate sports into their photos, yet you can include anything that represents you! If you don't have any activities or interests you want to include we can just simply do outdoor or in studio photos. I also love to include family in some of the photos for senior sessions.

Half vs. Full Session

There are 2 different sessions you can choose from for senior portraits. The half session is a half hour and includes 10 digital images. However, the half session is in studio only. That being said, if you would like to take outdoor photos or both in studio and outdoor, you must choose the full session. The full session is 1 hour and includes 20 digital images.

Outdoor Locations for Senior Portraits

On location full sessions can be done almost anywhere. Locations that are over 20 miles away from the studio do have a travel fee. If you don't have a location in mind, I have a few that I love to use for senior sessions. Some of my favorites that are within 20 miles from the studio include, Wickham Park in Manchester, CT and Henry Park in Vernon, CT. Harkness Park in Waterford, CT is another one of my favorites. This beautiful location on the ocean only has a $27 travel fee.

The main purpose of senior portraits are to represent your child as they are. I love getting to know my seniors and allowing their personality to shine through in their pictures. Kids grow up right before our eyes and before know it our babies are graduating high school! Capturing this milestone before it's just a memory is such a pleasure for me to do.
